Blog Post: Rock is Not Dead by Diane Martin
Editor’s note: Intern Diane shares her experience aboard the Monsters of Rock Cruise.
“Rock is not dead” is what I said to my husband as we watched four young rock bands, Shiraz Lane, H.E.A.T., Hardcore Superstars and Diemonds perform on the Monsters of Rock Cruise.
Shiraz Lane is from Finland and despite their youth, they have the whole package: looks, musicianship and most importantly, songwriting skills. They impressed me the most.
Swedish rock band H.E.A.T. played on the pool stage and had the Shiraz Lane bassist, Joel Alex play for them, because their bass player just had a baby. The vocalist, Erik Gronwall stage dived into the audience who carried him to the pool where he jumped in!
Hardcore Superstar is a five-piece rock band also from Sweden, who combines thrash metal with sleaze rock, aggressive but catchy and melodic.
Diemonds is a Canadian hard rock band with a female singer who writes lyrics that speak to the outcasts.
From Finland to Canada, rock is not dead.
